There’s a free family-friendly event taking place next weekend at San Diego’s Seaport Village that I thought may interest you and your blog readers, as it truly is one of a kind for Southern California. The third annual Seaport Village Spring Busker Festival is a celebration of street performers and it is SUCH a blast! This year we’ll have a magician, a sword swallower, a pancake juggler, a comedic performer who can pogo stick over a flaming shopping cart, musicians and more. Some are local to Southern California, but others are coming from as far as New York, Canada and Utah!
New this year is an unedited Saturday night party—Buskers After Dark—to showcase untamed busker arts mingled with deejay grooves. The Busker After Dark 18 and older evening entertainment will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
These types of festivals are incredibly popular across the globe and in San Diego we’re hosting the only of its kind in Southern California. The public will vote for the top three acts and can receive prizes themselves just for voting! In addition, there’s a contest on the Seaport Village blog so if your readers take a video that day and upload it to our blog, there’s an other opportunity to win.
The event will run Saturday and Sunday, April 18 – 19, 2009 from 12 – 5 p.m. It’s free of charge, although buskers accept tips, and a great way to fill a full day, outside on the San Diego waterfront.
I also have videos and images, which I’ll gladly provide for you to post on the blog. I hope you’ll consider it! A press release is here, and I can provide this by email as well.
